US – IRAN

President Trump says the United States and Iran have had “very strong talks” and that both sides want to make a deal adding that if Iran carries through, it will end the conflict.

Iran said this morning there are no talks. Trump is now saying the talks are very strong.

What this means: Something is happening, but what exactly is being disputed by the two parties having it. Trump’s language has escalated from “very good and productive conversations” to “very strong talks.” That progression suggests either growing confidence in a diplomatic track or growing pressure to justify the five-day pause with something more convincing than silence.

What this means for the deal: “They want to make a deal, we want to make a deal” is the most direct statement of mutual intent Trump has made since this war began. It is a significant departure from “totally defeated” the opening position of three weeks ago. Wars that begin with total defeat as the stated objective and end with both sides wanting a deal have a name. They are called stalemates.

What this means globally: Markets will respond to this positively. Oil will fall further. The question every government is now asking is the same one Worldwide Observer has been asking all day if both sides want a deal, why did Iran deny the talks exist, and why are Israeli and Iranian officials saying the fighting continues?

The answer to that question is the deal itself.
